Leather has long been known to the female shopper as something to investment in. You can't go wrong with a perfect fitting leather jacket, those second skin leather pants or that classic leather bag. Owning a few good quality long lasting leather basics is debatably essential for everyones wardrobe. While I would encourage everyone to invest in at least one amazing leather jacket, as it will last you the next 10 years, getting that 'leather look' can be somewhat devastating to the bank balance. That's where modern day pleather comes in, yes pleather a.k.a fake leather. Pleather has come a long way in the last few years, with the look and feel of the faux material at times almost the same as the real stuff. I own (to my surprise) an exceptionally large collection of pleather items and they do the trick time and time again.
This winter the leather look is everywhere, in the shops from pants to peplums. Rocking the leather has come full circle from it's roots of grunge and rock and roll. This season it's more malleable and luxe, leather is now about about adding polish and sharpness to your look and keeping it chic.
An essential basic for this season are leather or pleather pants. In my eyes they are the 'in' way to update your look from the classic, but at times deadly boring blue jeans that we so madly love. Anyone that's scared at this point thinking the 'leather look' is no longer age appropriate for them, you're wrong! Leather can work for women of all ages, shapes and sizes- but you need to shop around and be willing to get into the change room! Lucky for us girls, leather and pleather pants are coming in all shapes, cut and sizes this season, with a massive variety available for your shopping pleasure.
Here are some of my favourite looks from Sussan and Sportsgirl using pleather pants- you would never guess they are not leather! Just goes to show you, the styling opportunities are endless. If you are in need of any leather and pleather advice tweet me your fashion faux pas @rochelle_fox :)
