Looking chic in Sheike this winter

A shopper tweeted me last week asking what my favourite go-to store was at Top Ryde City. My natural answer, Sheike. I am always checking out what is new in their store, because season after season I have formed a fashion love affair with Sheike's collections.
I know I am not alone as the store is always buzzing with ladies trying on new looks. It's easy to see why they are so loved with their ability to design on trend, chic, structured- and affordable styles each season. That being said, I was super thrilled this week to check out the Sheike A/W lookbook. It was just released and yes ladies, it's drool worthy!

CHECK OUT THE FULL LOOKBOOK HERE

One trend that I have been watching develop this season is Baroque and Sheike have some killer dresses that are right on the Baroque trend. Here is my stylist low-down for anyone unfamiliar with Baroque prints!
Like any new trend, don't be scared to give it a go, think of baroque as this seasons new twist on floral print. Baroque is a print typically made up of chains, animal, and floral motives but overall baroque translates to over the top and elaborate design. It's reminiscent of vintage Versace collections, which in my eyes brings out an 80's supermodel sex appeal when worn. This trend requires minimal accessories especially when wearing a baroque print dress a necklaces will most likely get lost in the print, so opt to earrings and or a statement cocktail ring instead. Belts can also be handy when wearing a baroque print, especially if your a girl who is body conscious. A waist belt will break the print up and cinch you in at the waist.

Sheike's new collection sees baroque print on knitted fitted dresses in a colour palette of emerald green, off white and tones of blue, grey and black. As well as on a stand out navy peplum dress, which is one of those great pieces that works from the office to a hot date in seconds or even to the races on the weekend when styled right.

Below are my Style Me boards on how to accessorise and style this new trend. P.S As always feel free to tweet me @rochelle_fox and even twit pic me. I am here to help you with any of your fashion faux pas and lend advice on how to make this trend work for you!

STYLE NOTE- All accessories and clothing is Sheike shoes are new season looks from Nine West

STYLE NOTE- This peplum dress is the perfect dress for all occasions, its fitted structured and offers a more modern peplum detail to most peplum looks I have seen, (which is great because no one wants to be rocking 80's looking peplum). I've styled this look for the Autumn races, all it needs is a fab hat or fascinator to finish and you are frocked up for a day betting on the fillies!

STYLE NOTE- Emerald green is a big colour trend this season. I've kept the rest of this look sleek and black to keep the dress as the statement. Don't be afraid to experiment with footwear as knee high boots will take this look to another level!

STYLE NOTE-  Sheike's Heritage knit dress in navy and white is on my 'must have list' because there are so many ways to style this look again and again. Wearing Sheike's 'Heritage Dress' would work great with simple black or navy heels, stockings and a structured blazer, creating a minimal but on trend work outfit for the girl who likes to be known as the fashion forward chick in the workplace.
This dress can go further than the office, it's just as easy to amp up this peice for a night out on the town. Simply adding a red coat and clutch will create instant sex appeal and everyone loves a woman in red! Take the look even further by a applying a red lip with lashings of mascara and you can go from the office chic to vixen in seconds.

The leather look

Leather has long been known to the female shopper as something to investment in. You can't go wrong with a perfect fitting leather jacket, those second skin leather pants or that classic leather bag. Owning a few good quality long lasting leather basics is debatably essential for everyones wardrobe. While I would encourage everyone to invest in at least one amazing leather jacket, as it will last you the next 10 years, getting that 'leather look' can be somewhat devastating to the bank balance. That's where modern day pleather comes in, yes pleather a.k.a fake leather. Pleather has come a long way in the last few years, with the look and feel of the faux material at times almost the same as the real stuff. I own (to my surprise) an exceptionally large collection of pleather items and they do the trick time and time again.

This winter the leather look is everywhere, in the shops from pants to peplums. Rocking the leather has come full circle from it's roots of grunge and rock and roll. This season it's more malleable and luxe, leather is now about about adding polish and sharpness to your look and keeping it chic.

An essential basic for this season are leather or pleather pants. In my eyes they are the 'in' way to update your look from the classic, but at times deadly boring blue jeans that we so madly love. Anyone that's scared at this point thinking the 'leather look' is no longer age appropriate for them, you're wrong! Leather can work for women of all ages, shapes and sizes- but you need to shop around and be willing to get into the change room! Lucky for us girls, leather and pleather pants are coming in all shapes, cut and sizes this season, with a massive variety available for your shopping pleasure.

Here are some of my favourite looks from Sussan and Sportsgirl using pleather pants- you would never guess they are not leather! Just goes to show you, the styling opportunities are endless. If you are in need of any leather and pleather advice tweet me your fashion faux pas @rochelle_fox :)

Monochrome at Country Road

Last week I shot Top Ryde City's winter campaign, along side the styling direction of the amazing Amanda Mahoney. One of Amanda's key trends for the season, which you can start to find in the centre right now is monochrome. Amanda is a fan on the monochrome trend in her own personal style, with her love of mixing high end and low end labels to create a chic and sophisticated black and white looks which means business, so naturally she knows this trend inside out! The monochrome look is all about embracing black and white pieces and being bold with textures and patterns. Who ever thought black and white was boring just hasn't done it monochrome. One store that has done this trend oh so right for the coming season is Country Road.
Country Road's new 'urban career' lookbook is oozing with minimalist monochrome. The pieces are ideal for the modern working woman, that likes a no fuss attitude when dressing for work or play. Most trends can be challenging, requiring an abundance of accessories to perfect the look. Embracing Monochrome's approach to dressing is the opposite to this- 'less is more'. The best part is when looking for monochrome inspiration, look no further than Le Strada's Country Road store with perfect looks that are ready to wear with no fuss required- We all love that! xx

Kookai's Winter Runway

Last week Kookai launched their A/W 2013 collection by strutting 18 models down the runway. Among these, New York based Australian Supermodel Nicole Trunifo in all their new season looks!
The new collection named 'the colour of the night' features metallics, tweet, tones of berry and wine, monochrome and lots of black!

Kookai kept to their signature style with great cuts and practical pieces for the modern woman to work seamlessly into their existing wardrobe. Leather and faux leather pieces have been really big this season and the new A/W collection at Kooaki continued this trend. This is great because nothing beats leather in winter, it's rock and roll yet effortlessly cool. Kookai's look for the coming season is chic with a great range of colours, which work perfectly with a black leather jacket or faux leather pants. My absolute favourite from the show was a great A line dress with long lace sleeves. You can make up your mind for yourself and sit front row from the comfort of your own home with the full runway show below on youtube.
Let me know your favourite looks on twitter @rochelle_fox and I will be making some style boards shorty with my advice on how to put some looks together!

Rochelle Fox's interview with Myer's Jennifer Hawkins

Last week Melbourne hosted it's annual Myer A/W show, it was an incredible mix of the latest runway trends and Australia's Fashion pack aswell as some A-list celebrities looking amazing on the red carpet. As a reporter for 2dayFM's fashion and gossip program 'Scoopla', I had the chance to interview all the stars. Plus I was lucky enough to chat to Myer's golden girl Jennifer Hawkins and husband to be, before the supermodel strutted her stuff for the 13th time on the Myer runway.

I wore a beautiful gown by one of Myer's Australian Designers Toni Maticevski, which was a two piece leather skirt and corset, his craftmanship and attention to detail as a designer is amazing!

You can watch my interview with Jen below and check out the red carpet looks worn by Myer's Ambassadors and celebrity guests. Best part is you can start shopping all of Myer's A/W trends in the centre, from the redcarpet and runway straight to your wardrobe.

Myer's A/W trends

Our major retail store Myer, always have their finger on the fashion pulse. Myer stock the latest trends from the best Australian designers. Plus it's hard not to fall in love with winter fashion when supermodel and Myer's 'it' girl Jennifer Hawkins makes everything look so damn good!
Last week I travelled down to Myer's A/W shows in Melbourne to check out what they had instore for us this season. I was there not only as a stylist but also as a reporter for 2dayFM, which saw me interviewing Myer's fashion pack, Jennifer Hawkins, Kris Smith and Laura Dundovic, which I will tell you about more in my next style me post.

Judging by the looks the celebrities and designers wore on the black carpet, it's safe to say this winter is more edgy and sexy than ever. This winter see's fashion reinventing and building on some of summers keys trends, as well as introducing some new ones. One thing is for sure, I can't wait to start shopping!

Here is my Myer trend report for A/W fashion.

+Leather
Leather is a big trend this season and it's being used in new and exciting ways, complete leather looks were big on Myer's catwalk with Jennifer Hawkins rocking a very sexy leather look from Manning cartel.

+  Winter florals

We saw this trend in spring, but it has developed from there with seductive but delicate dresses that have a darker side to them.

+ Peplums
Are here to stay for another season. Myer made the look new with leather and metallic as well as unconventional peplum shapes. It proves that peplums don't have to look preppy, they can also be rock and roll.

+ Lace
This is going to be popular this season, look out for lace pieces in emerald green, royal blue, cherry red and of course black.

+ Embellishments and Metallics
Myer's show shined, sparkled and had it's own bling! Bejewelling your wardrobe is right on trend this winter, get the look with sequins, metallics and embellishments, basically anything that sparkles.

Stay tuned for my next post to see my interview with Jennifer Hawkins, more of my Myer Winter edit and Myer's Mens trends for Top Ryde City.
